Sensei Luke commenced his Karatedo training under Shihan Denis and Sensei Marie Ledger in 1993. He also trained under other local instructors, such as Sensei Richard Junior and Sensei Steve McLean, alongside other notable teachers, all black belts under Shihan Denis Purvis. Successfully achieving the rank of 3rd Dan under Shihan Denis, Sensei Luke continued his martial arts journey by pursuing ranks in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kudo Daido Juku.

After relocating to the eastern side of Australia, he resumed his Karatedo training in Hayashi-Ha under Shihan Koh Beng Soon, earning his 4th Dan in Newcastle, NSW, in 2023. Sensei Luke is the founder of the Karate Academy of Power. Inspired by Shihan Denis’s first-class karate academies, “Denis Purvis Karate Academy,” he continues to innovate and bring the old to life in the new, sharing the beautiful art of Karatedo.

Under the guidance of Shihan Koh Beng Soon, Sensei Luke regularly travels to Japan and Newcastle to train with the living masters of Karatedo.
